There are at least six answers to man's indictment that hell is unjust.
#1. GOD IS GOD. REMEMBER GOD'S ANSWER TO JOB?
Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
declare, if thou hast understanding.
Job 38:6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who
laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang
together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job 38:12 Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and
caused the dayspring to know his place?
Job 38:17 Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast
thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
Job 38:18 Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if
thou knowest it all.
Job 38:19 Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for
darkness, where is the place thereof,
Job 38:22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or
hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
Job 38:23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble,
against the day of battle and war?
God answered Job's question "Why?" with "Who!" Who are you oh man
(with a mind darkened by sin) to question the Eternal Self Existent
One, the One who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man can see
and live?
Do not misunderstand God's tone here. God is not on an ego trip in not
answering Job's question directly. He is saying, for a mortal mind
to comprehend this mystery you would need the mind of God. As high as
the heavens are above the earth, so are His ways above ours.
Secondly, God wants us to trust Him like a child trusts it's mother
when she feeds you. Does a one year old ask it's mother, "How do I
know that's not poison?"
#2. IT IS BECAUSE GOD IS HOLY, AND JUST, HE MUST PUNISH SIN.
A. If God is good, why doesn't He take all the evil people away? Are
you suggesting that if God removed all the evil people, you would
still be here?
B. If a judge were to let you off after
committing even one crime, He would be unjust. God cannot change. If
God were to change He would either have to get better or worse. That
is impossible - He is perfect!
#3. HE DIDN'T REJECT YOU, YOU REJECTED HIM!
2 Peter 3:9 says: "The Lord is not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance."
Romans 2:4-6 says: "Or do you think lightly of the riches of His
kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the kindness
of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and
unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day
of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who will
render to every man according to his deeds."
#4. WITH EVERY WILLFUL ACT OF DISOBEDIENCE YOU SAID IN EFFECT,
"I WILL EXALT MYSELF ABOVE THE THRONE OF GOD."
High treason even in man's world has always been punishable by
death. But for man to exalt his will above God's will is usurp the
throne of God. That is what Lucifer did when he became Satan. He
said, "I will exalt my self above the throne of God.
#5. BECAUSE OF THE PRICE THAT WAS PAID.
John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but
have eternal life."
Romans 5:8 says: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in
that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
2 Cor. 5:21 says: "He made Him who knew no sin {to be} sin on our
behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
#6. BECAUSE YOU MURDERED THE SON OF GOD.
In our world, it is one thing to murder a skid row bum, it is
another thing all together to murder the President of the United
States.
In this world, because of man's sinful state, it is possible to
murder someone, especially if they are not very important and get
away with it, and if you have the money for a "good" lawyer.
But, if you murder the President of the United States, the United
States government will bring all of it's power and all of it's
authority against you in order to see to it that you are prosecuted
to receive the maximum penalty allowed by law.
When you stand before the judgment bar of God you will be charged
with murder in the first degree. You will be charged with murdering
the Son of God. This is what Peter preached in Acts chapters 2, 3,
4, 5, Gal. 3 and 1 Peter 2:24. It was your sins and mine that nailed
Jesus to the cross. But, it wasn't the nails that held Him there, it
was His love for you and me!
To reject so great a salvation is to condemn yourself.
Who goes to hell?
Rev 21:7-8 "He who overcomes shall inherit these things, and I will
be his God and he will be My son. "But for the cowardly (fearful)
and unbelieving (unfaithful and faithless) abominable (detestable,
abhor able, to turn away because of the stench) and murderers and
immoral persons (word used is pornos, outside of marriage) and
sorcerers (pharmakeus- one who prepares or uses magical remedies, or
drugs) and idolaters (covetous men who love the world and things in
the world like money and the praise of men, more than the God who
created the world and the praise that comes for the only God.) and
all liars (deceitful people), their part {will be} in the lake that
burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
